  4. AVAILABLE MODULES
  5. -------------------
  6. The following modules are currently available for use with your
  7. Astro_22 program:
  8.  
  9. *********************************************************************
  10. *                      PROGRESSED MODULE                            *
  11. *********************************************************************
  12.  
  13. Note: This module uses the 'Resident Chart' for progression. Select
  14. the 'Make Current Resident' flag to install the subject for analysis.
  15.  
  16. Daily Progressed Angles
  17. -------------------------
  18. This flag when active shows the real time positions of the Ascendant,
  19. Midheaven and Cusps relative to the progressed system chosen. For
  20. example, in the Secondary system of progression the Ascendant shows an
  21. approximate movement of one degree per year. However, hidden within
  22. this movement is the fact that the Ascendant and Angles make a
  23. complete three hundred and sixty degree circuit of the Zodiac. The
  24. time when these points reach the position of natal planets by
  25. conjunction is regarded as the most important period for analysis.
  26. In this system the daily movement of the Ascendant and MC can be used
  27. as a valuable aid in chart rectification work.
  28.  
  29. Real Time Progression Option.
  30. ------------------------------
  31. While this flag is set 'ON' the progressed date is taken from the
  32. current date and time as set with the 'Date and Time' menu options.
  33. The program will progress the resident chart to this date and time. If
  34. this flag is not set, a prompt will ask for the progressed date to be
  35. entered.
  36.  
  37. Converse Progression Option
  38. ----------------------------
  39. When set, this option calculates progressions backward in time to the
  40. set progression date.
  41.  
  42. Having set any flag options required, the type of progression can be
  43. selected from the menu. You are able to progress a chart through any
  44. option without resetting parts of the program. For example, you may
  45. calculate a tertiary chart, then immediately afterwards calculate a
  46. progressed chart. If the Aspect module is present a check of aspect
  47. patterns of the current progressed chart and current progressed chart
  48. to the resident chart may be calculated.
  49.  
  50. Secondary Progression
  51. ---------------------
  52. Regarded are the most reliable system of of Predictive Astrology. The
  53. progressed planets are calculated to the Sun's forward motion based on
  54. each day after birth representing a year of life. For example a person
  55. born 1/1/1960: At age ten the position of the Sun on 11/1/1960 is the
  56. progressed date for the analysis. This is a Solar based system and
  57. represents the unfolding of the subject's personality. The times when
  58. the Progressed Sun is aspecting a Natal Planet are regarded as
  59. important and critical periods of life. The Moon in this system of
  60. progression is of secondary importance to Sun but by aspect shows when
  61. important changes may be expected.
  62.  
  63. Day-For-A-Year
  64. -----------------
  65. With this system all the planets are move forward in time exactly one
  66. degree for each year of life. In the above example the position of
  67. Mars may be at 10 Degrees of Cancer. At age 10 this planet will be
  68. progressed to 20 Degrees of Cancer. This system is regarded highly for
  69. showing the time of life when events representing the influence of
  70. aspecting planets are more clearly defined.
  71.  
  72. Solar Arc progression
  73. ----------------------
  74. This is a modification of the above system in that the movement of all
  75. the planets forward in time are to the Sun's actual movement over the
  76. period in question. If the Sun has progressed 9 Degrees all the
  77. planets are moved on 9 Degrees.
  78.  
  79. Tertiary Progression
  80. ----------------------
  81. A relatively modern system based on the Tertiary movement of the Moon
  82. which is a little over 27 days. This is a very powerful system of
  83. chart progression which compliments the Solar methods and may be
  84. regarded as
  85. it's Lunar counterpart. Events are clearly defined and usually quite
  86. accurate in time. This can be verified by noting in particular
  87. Tertiary progressed New Moons which usually mark a change of life
  88. circumstances.
  89.  
  90. Monthly Progression
  91. ---------------------
  92. This method of progressing a chart is based on the 'Division of
  93. the Year by Twelve'- Not widely used but deserves study.
  94.  
  95. Weekly Progression
  96. --------------------
  97. An interesting complement of the above system based on the 'Division
  98. of Seven' - Seven days of life representing one day by progression.
  99.  
  100. Daily Progression-Transits
  101. ---------------------------
  102. Planets are calculated and displayed in the progressed Daily chart.
  103. The starting point for the Ascendant, Midheaven and points is the
  104. natal birth day. See also the notes on transits in the Prediction
  105. Module.

  109. *                HARMONIC AND COMPOSITE CHARTS                       *
  110. **********************************************************************
  111.  
  112. HARMONIC  CHARTS
  113. ------------------
  114. This method of extending the Natal Chart is comparatively new to the
  115. West. Proposed by John Addey around 1975. It is derived from Hindu
  116. astrology and it is based on sound Pythagorean principles of numeric
  117. vibration.  The Planets and points are multiplied by a specific number
  118. then rectified to 360 degrees. In a 9th harmonic chart for instance
  119. the position of the planets, Ascendant and MC in the natal chart
  120. are multiplied by 9, in a fifth harmonic by 5. The time of birth must
  121. be accurate because an error of only 1 degree in the Natal Chart is
  122. magnified to 13 degrees in the 13th harmonic.
  123.  
  124. In practice the the numbers 2 through to 13 are those normally used by
  125. Astrologers as a sophisticated extension to character analysis.
  126. However, harmonic charts can be of valuable assistance for predictive
  127. work. Using the harmonic method the Birth chart can be extended to any
  128. given number and the resultant chart is one's personal resonance to
  129. that numerical vibration. If you are 30 years old you may be
  130. interested to see how your chart applies to this number or 10957 the
  131. number of days.
  132.  
  133. It is a fascinating exercise using Astro_22 to obtain an immediate
  134. visual resonance to any imputed number. A preponderance of red
  135. (stressful) aspect lines denoting squares and oppositions is not a
  136. good response however, a preponderance of green aspect showing trines
  137. and sextile lines (harmonious) is fortuitous. Conjunctions should be
  138. assessed individually.
  139.  
  140. Harmonics and Astro_22 is the obvious combination to use as a short-
  141. cut method of finding One's lucky numbers. Bookmakers beware!
  142.  
  143. COMPOSITE CHARTS
  144. ----------------
  145. Composite charts are used to find the blend of two individuals and are
  146. calculated in a similar manner as Midpoints e.g. The first persons Sun
  147. position is added to the second persons Sun position, divided by two
  148. and corrected to 360 degrees in the shortest arch. The resultant
  149. position represents the personality of the two individual as one unit.
  150. The same calculation is applied to all the other planets MC and
  151. ascendant.
  152.  
  153. The chart produced may be analysed is a similar manner as any other
  154. birth chart.
  155.  
  156. One other way of using composite charts is to compare transits at any
  157. given time to your your own chart by composite. The levels of stress
  158. or harmony of the moment are highligted by aspect similar to the
  159. example given above in the Harmonic notes.
  160.  
  161. If you need to know if 3.30 PM Thursday is a good time to ask your
  162. employer for a salary increase then do a composite for that moment in
  163. time. If the aspects of Jupiter, Venus, Sun and Saturn are favourable
  164. and the overall chart is in the green - go for it!

  167. *                      MIDPOINTS MODULE                             *

  170. This module allows the user to calculate and display the midpoints  of
  171. the current chart and compare transits and progressions to  natal
  172. midpoints.

  176. Midpoints of the current chart are calculated and displayed on screen.
  177.  
  178. Midpoint Inter-Aspects
  179. ----------------------
  180. Calculates planetary aspects within one degree of orb to Current Chart
  181. Midpoints.
  182.  
  183. Transits To Midpoints
  184. ----------------------
  185. An impressive addition to the Midpoint Module: Comparison is made
  186. between the Current chart and Resident Chart. All aspects within one
  187. degree of orb to the Resident Chart's Midpoints are displayed. Any
  188. type of chart may be used as 'Current': Transits, progressions or
  189. someone else's chart.

  191. Data may be sent to the Printer or Disk File.

  259. The user is able to custom his own orb values from within the program
  260. by selecting 'Setup' from the MISC menu. The option is given to save
  261. the custom setting as the default orb value.
  262.  
  263. TABULATED ASPECTS
  264. ------------------
  265. 1. Aspects Full Orb:
  266.    Lists the Major and Minor aspects of the current chart in degrees
  267.    of orb.
  268.  
  269. 2. Aspects To 1 Deg.:
  270.    Lists aspects of the current chart that are within one degree of
  271.    aspect - shown as seconds orb.
  272.  
  273. 3. Aspects Extended:
  274.    Lists all aspects of the current chart to full orb in an easy to
  275.    analyse format.
  276.  
  277. 4. Compare Charts Full Orb:
  278.    Gives a listing of major aspects between the current  and resident
  279.    charts in degrees of orb.
  280.  
  281. 5. Compare To 1 Deg.:
  282.    As for 4. above except the listing is in minutes of orb including
  283.    both major and minor aspects that are within one degree of aspect.
  284.  
  285.  
  286. Note. If only Major Aspects are required in the listings Minor Aspects
  287. may be turned off from the 'MISC' menu. Subsequent listings will only
  288. calculate the Major Aspects. Further fine tuning of user required
  289. aspects may be affected through the 'Active Aspects' selection.

  291. Print out
  292. ---------
  293. If the Printer Option is set 'ON' a listing of aspects is sent to the
  294. printer.
  295.  
  296. Disk File
  297. ----------
  298. If a Disk File is open a listing of aspects is printed into the open
  299. file.

  302. *                    GRAPHIC ASPECT WHEELS                          *

  305. In all graphic aspect displays, the red lines connecting two planets
  306. represent hard or stressful relationship between the planets shown.
  307. Green connecting lines show a flowing or harmonious relationship. In
  308. mono mode the stressful aspects are shown as broken lines.
  309.  
  310. 1. Aspect Wheel:
  311. Displays major aspects of the current chart to full Orb.
  312.  
  313. 2. Aspect wheel Magnified to 1 Degree:
  314. Shows all aspects which are within 1 deg. of orb.
  315.  
  316. 3. Extended Wheel Full Orb:
  317. Is the same for 1. above but includes aspects to the Ascendant,
  318. Midheaven, North Node and Fortuna.
  319.  
  320. 4. Compare Charts Full Orb:
  321. All major aspect between the current and resident charts are
  322. calculated and displayed.
  323.  
  324. 5. Compare Magnified To 1 Degree:
  325. Displays major and minor aspects between the current and resident
  326. chart which are within one degree of orb.

  329. *                      TOGGLE FACILITY                              *
  330. *********************************************************************
  331.  
  332. This module is used to update screen displays in preset time
  333. increments or decrements and can be used with any screen output or
  334. current calculation mode, even progressions - Very useful for
  335. rectification work.
  336.  
  337. To activate the module, set the interval required by clicking on the
  338. 'Set Increment' menu option. A dialogue box appears on screen and as
  339. an example, if screen updates are required to 1 year, 35 Days and 1
  340. Hour enter as: y1^ d35^ h1^ e^.  Activate your work screen then use
  341. the menu or keyboard hot keys for screen updates. The program
  342. redisplays the current work screen updated by the time increment or
  343. decrement as set. When in use the module redisplays your current work
  344. screen updated by the time increment or decrement as set.
  345.  
  346. This module is a very effective and powerful addition to Astro_22 and
  347. should not be overlooked.
  348.  
  349. *********************************************************************
  350. *                     CHARACTER ANALYSIS                            *
  351. *********************************************************************
  352.  
  353. Gives a screen, printer or disk file listing interpreting the
  354. character traits of the 'current chart' subject. This module was the
  355. most arduous and time demanding of all and just about broke my
  356. determination to proceed. However, here it is at last after a second
  357. re-write. In attempting to make such an interpretation meaningful and
  358. easily understood, I have broken the subject into recognized
  359. planetary attributes i.e. all listings of the Sun through Sign, House
  360. and Aspect relate to modification of personality traits; Mercury,
  361. mental attributes etc.
  362.  
  363. For those who wish to write their own interpretation of the aspects,
  364. all the relevant document files can be modified with any word
  365. processor in ASCII mode. One important point to be aware of is that
  366. the asterix at the beginning of the relevant sub file is used by the
  367. program as a flag or counter, enabling the correct sub file to be
  368. located. This asterix must be the first character on the header line
  369. with no white space to the left. Header lines must be left in place!
  370. However, text between headers is unrestricted. It is permissible to
  371. add to the header but only that which fits on to one line of 74
  372. characters.
  373.  
  374. Files relating to character analysis are located in sub-drawers within
  375. the main 'TEXT' folder.
  376.  
  377. Printer formatting options are presented before output and should work
  378. with any printer. Manually select font style, CPI, LQ etc. before
  379. listing to the printer. A listing to disk file is another option for
  380. the character analysis enabling exact presentation with a word
  381. processor.
  382.  
  383. Note: There is no need to be overly tidy having neat blocks of text
  384. when working inside the Astro files. The program lifts the whole block
  385. and formates the text to the current 'character per line' setting.
  386.  
  387. To break out of a screen or printer listing use the'Esc' key.
  388.

  390. *                     PREDICTION MODULE                             *
  391. *********************************************************************
  392.  
  393. TEXT FILES FOR USE WITH TRANSITS AND PROGRESSIONS
  394. --------------------------------------------------
  395.  
  396. A note about prediction:
  397. ------------------------
  398. If One has studied astrology in more than a superficial way then there
  399. is no doubt about the fact that the position of the planets relative
  400. to the natal chart does have an influence in the course of One's life.
  401. The "why? and how?" is not so simple and each astrologer has his own
  402. pet theory of the workings of the Cosmic Influences. However, the best
  403. way to test the validity of Predictive Astrology is to study the
  404. effects in your own life. Hence this module!
  405.  
  406. There are many ways to progress a natal chart for predicting events
  407. and most work well. If you are new to Astrology the best advice is to
  408. confine your effort to Transits, which is the influence of the the
  409. planets in real time.
  410.  
  411. Powers of Influence:
  412. ---------------------
  413. The aspects formed by the planets have power to influence an
  414. individual in relative strength to how they are situated in the birth
  415. chart and to the sensitivity of the person in question and His/Her
  416. psychological make up etc. With a little study you will soon come to
  417. know what planets are important to your own development. e.g. Any
  418. planet close to your Ascendant or at the Midheaven and and also the
  419. Ruler of your chart chart will be of obvious interest in prediction.
  420.  
  421. To quote a wise man "To predict the future you must first study the
  422. past." And this is where the real fun begins! It is the real starting
  423. point
  424. for predicting likely future events. You could make a list of all the
  425. important changes in your past, the traumatic events, period of good
  426. fortune, ill fortune etc. then cast a chart for that day in time and
  427. compare it to your own natal chart and see what influences were
  428. operating. You may also choose a well known historical character who
  429. has had a life full of documented events, such an Adolf Hitler and
  430. progress the chart to known relevant dates.
  431.  
  432. Once convinced of the validity of certain planets and aspects the next
  433. step, if you are a brave soul, is to peek into the future.
  434.  
  435. Orb of influence:
  436. -----------------
  437. In most of the Progession and Transit systems the Orb of influence is
  438. 1 degree applying to 1 degree separating. The most powerful effect is
  439. when the orb closes to 25 Minutes or less coming to exact aspect of 0
  440. Minutes of arc.
  441.  
  442. The Orb of Influence is shown on the header line when an aspect is
  443. analysed and is regarded as weak until the reading is below 30.
  444.  
  445. Aspect Influence:
  446. ------------------
  447. Conjunction: Very powerful. (Of mixed quality depending on the
  448.              planets forming the aspect)
  449. Opposition : Almost as powerful as the conjunction. (Usually adverse)
  450. Trine      : Powerful harmonious aspect.
  451. Square     : Powerful adverse aspect.
  452. Sextile    : Weak harmonious aspect. Usually ignored in Transit
  453.              forecasting.
  454.  
  455. Using the module:
  456. -----------------
  457. This module consists of a series of user editable text files which are
  458. located within the "Aspects" folder. These files may be modified with
  459. any word processor in ASCII mode in a similar manner as described in
  460. the preceding module. Text may be sent to screen, printer or disk file
  461. providing that the printer has been activated through the "Set Printer
  462. Option" in the main menu.
  463.  
  464. The textual aspect analysis is controlled through the 'Tabulated
  465. Aspect Module' and is the minimum requirement for using this present
  466. module.
  467.  
  468. To calculate a Transit:
  469.  
  470. 1. Load the chart of person for whom the reading is required.
  471.  
  472. 2. Go to the Progression Flag menu and 'Make Current Chart Resident.'
  473.  
  474. 3. Use 'Noon GMT' or 'New Chart' to create a chart for the date in
  475.    question.
  476.  
  477. 4. From the 'Aspects Menu' activate 'Text Mode On.' You are given
  478.  the option to limit printout to finer orb values if you so wish.
  479.  
  480. 5. Finally, again from the 'Aspects Menu' click on
  481.    'Compare Tab To 1 Deg.'
  482.  
  483. A listing will then appear showing which aspects were active on that
  484. date. Note the strength of the aspect and closeness of orb before
  485. becoming too excited.
  486.  
  487. A note on Transits.
  488. --------------------
  489. Because Transits deal with real time movement within the Solar system
  490. the greatest influence will be noted from the slower moving planets
  491. Mars through to Pluto. The Sun, Mercury and Venus are within orb for
  492. only a day or two and are therefore only useful in marking a daily
  493. influences. The Moon but a few hours.
  494.  
  495. Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus are the planets which will bring far
  496. reaching changes of life. Neptune and Pluto also, if strong in the
  497. natal chart.
  498.  
  499. Other Progressions:
  500. --------------------
  501. If you have the Progression Module then Progressed charts, 'Day for a
  502. year' calculations etc. may analysed in a similar manner to the above
  503. but unlike Transits all planets are of equal relative importance.
  504.  
  505. Notes:
  506. The reading obtained should not be viewed as exact events fated to
  507. happen. They attempt to convey the tone of the aspect and how it may
  508. manifest itself in its more positive or more negative modes of
  509. expression.
  510.  
  511. We are each masters of our own ship but occasionally we must tack
  512. against the wind or haul in sail to meet changing conditions.
  513.  
  514. "The planets may compel at times but they do not command!"
  515.  
  516. ********************************************************************
  517. *                      SEARCH ROUTINES                             *
  518. ********************************************************************
  519.  
  520. One strong advantage of the 'Progression module' when checking
  521. selective dates is that all aspects within one degree of orb are
  522. listed on screen. The drawback however becomes obvious when one needs
  523. to find the exact date of an event. This is not too difficult when
  524. using the toggle, but it is irksome all the same.
  525.  
  526. The search routines complement the 'Progression Module' by providing a
  527. an accurate listing of the planetary aspects over any given period and
  528. the exact time of any event. The vulnerability of this method lies in
  529. the fact that it is not easy to read which planets are within orb at
  530. any given time. The slower moving planets may show a date by aspect
  531. yet still be within orb one month later.
  532.  
  533. Each method has its merits, but the lesson is obvious -
  534. If you are fairly new to astrology keep the period of analysis to a
  535. manageable whole and within the bounds of sound judgment.
  536.  
  537. If the Prediction module is active the choice is given for text to be
  538. included with aspect listings.
  539.  
  540. Note: Before entering any of the search routines use the 'Setup'
  541. screen to select aspect types, active and aspected planets. Also
  542. ensure that the subject of the search is made 'Resident.'
  543.  
  544. The search data may be directed to a printer or to a disk file.
  545.  
  546. TRANSIT SEARCH
  547. ---------------
  548. This routine calculates and displays the exact moment that a
  549. transiting planet is in aspect to a natal planet, through any given
  550. time period.
  551.  
  552. Follow the prompts on screen and enter a start and end date.
  553. The display for each aspect is in the following format:
  554.

  557. Element 1. Gives the date of the event.
  558.    "    2. Shows the time of the event.

  562.    "    6. Type of aspect(TRINE)
  563.    "    7. The Natal planet being aspected (Jupiter)
  564.    "    8. The Natal Astrological Sign(Can.) of Jupiter.
  565.    "    9. The Natal House(10) of Jupiter
  566.    "   10. Shows the relationship(SQR) between the two planets in the
  567.            Natal Chart.

  569. SECONDARY PROGRESSED SEARCH
  570. ---------------------------
  571. Secondary progression is the most widely used system of predictive
  572. astrology but by hand they are something of a pain to calculate
  573. accurately over any time period.
  574.

  589. relatively easy to calculate aspects.

  609. EPHEMERIS
  610. ----------
  611. This module presents a tabulated listing of planetary positions
  612. calculated at NOON or MIDNIGHT for any geographical location.
  613.  
  614. The number of planets calculated is determined through the 'Setup'
  615. option of active planets. The default is eleven which includes the
  616. Moon's Node.
  617.  
  618. Location is taken from the resident chart. Most European Ephemeris
  619. listings use London 51.32N 000.00E for calculations.
  620.  
  621. The default calculation step is one day, however the option is
  622. given to change this setting. You may wish to make a condensed
  623. Ephemeris for just the outer planets in steps of five days in which
  624. case you would enter '5' at the prompt.

  687. calculations.

  689. If the 'realtime' flag is set from the 'Progression' menu the
  690. routine calculates  the next return forward of the system date.

  692. Pressing the right mouse button after any return display calculates
  693. the next forward return. Any other keypress or mouse operation exits
  694. the routine.

  699. The three most widely used house systems are supplied, Equal House,
  700. Placidus and Koch. More will be added later if there is a demand.

  702. Chart rotation.

  704. Allows the user to move any of the planets to an Ascendant position
  705. for individual assessment. The chart is in effect rotated to this
  706. point. For example if Saturn is selected the chart is rotated to
  707. install the Saturn placement as the Ascendant. The resultant chart
  708. becomes Saturn dominant and the house cusps will Saturn's first house,
  709. Saturn's second house etc.
